Question Costa's

I went to Academy and looked at the tortise Harpoon's with 580 amber lens. I will use them for fishing and also as sun glasses and driveing, anyone have these or atleast these lenses and whats the differance in the 400 and 580 and does anyone know why there is a pair thats $250 when others are around $150-$200

Default 580 is better polarized and clear

its worth the extra money for the 580 lens. it blocks out rays a little better and is more clear. harpoons are awesome and fit great! good choice

I have never owned 580s but ppl that do say there is a big difference b/w them in clarity. 580s are about $50 more/pair.

several factors. 580 is better/more expensive lens. Also is lens glass or plastic?

I own the 580's and think they are worth it.

I got the 580's and will never get any of the others again, only 580's from here on out. Had a buddy call me up the other day and said "Man I should have listened to you 2 years ago, these 580 lenses are the ****!".

Check ebay for sure. I bought some 580 blackfins for 160 shipped. I have owned several pairs over the years and the 580s are the bomb. Its like HD vision

THE Harpoons are a Medium/Large Frame. the 580 lens blocks out the yellow light where the 400 don't you so it makes a big difference outside in the store you won't see a difference. The wave 400 blue mirror and green mirror lens are glass the rest of the lens are poly. They now make a poly 580 lens that sells for the same price of a wave 400 glass lens.

I'm in the market for my third pair of Costas right now. The best way I have found to make sure you get the right pair is to go to Academy, etc., try on some of the frames you are interested in, then go to the website and get the exact frames and lenses you want ( the selection on frame colors and lens tint are much better on the site). I have the Brines right now, but I tried on the Mayas and the Riomars the other day and liked them both.

Make sure you don't get the intergal hinge frames. I have two pair of fathoms with intergal hinges and one pair of harpoons with the metal hinge. The metal hinge system does not stretch out like the intergal system does, makes them more comfortable all day. 580 copper lens in the harpoons and love them.

Same here. A few weeks ago I bought a pair of Harpoons, green mirror 400s at Cabelas and I could not tell the difference vs the 580 I tried on. BTW, I had a pair of triple tail 400 black frame green mirror that was scratched. Well i sent them back and for 48 bucks I got a new pair. So now I have two. If anyone is interested in buying the TT let me know if not I will keep them as a back-up.
