A friend of mine bought a new truck last year & had the same problem. He found out that the truck was a demo or somthing like that & had been registered already. He called the dealer & they sent him a check for the next years registration.

Any vehicle weighing over 6000 lbs will have a one year plate now.

Is it a 3/4 or 1 ton? They all get one year tags.

My aunt bought a Traverse and it has a one year plate. She called the DMV and they told her that her vehicle had a weight of 6000 lbs or more and it will now require a "B" plate which is a one year plate.

It's a half ton. I wonder if it's only our state doing this now.

No. Many states have been doing one year tags for years. This is actually the only state I know of that has multi-year tags. FL does registration based on weight of vehicle. They explain it as wear and tear on the roads.

That's an easy one. It's not a tax, its a user fee.

Now if someone would care to explain the difference!

No. That's for kickbacks and fancy vacations! Lol! Who really knows where any of it goes?!

I know when my aunt registered her new 528 down there, it was dirt cheap! My 3/4 ton cost twice as much as her new BMW and mine was 12 yrs old at the time!

I think it used to be good for 4 years but it changed.

The one on my wife's vehicle is good for 3 years.

The renewal for my truck cost $24.50, then I was told that I got screwed. The man at the dealership where I buy my vehicles told me his cost $22 for his yearly plate. I told him he got the senior citizen discount.:*****:
