Hog Problems

Are hogs as bad in Louisiana as they are in Texas, they are everywhere you look here.

Fairly bad in some areas......but many areas don't have them.

This will probably change in the next couple of years.

I hunt a track of land that just a few yrs ago had a lot of deer and now is all hogs between Houston River and West Fork. Hogs like the low areas that stay moist but they will take over anywhere they get.

Yes indeed! I'd bet you could have a truckload of guys up there to eradicate them in a moment's notice! We would make that chopper video look like child's play!

Biologist that works with our hunting club told us that you need to kill at least 65% of the heard every year just to keep them in check!

Kill them when you see them. They will take over. Several WMA/NWR I hunt have told us to shoot them and let them lay if you don't want them.

I would not doubt it, it takes them around four months to have a litter.

Texas legislature just signed the helicopter bill and you already have people saying its dangerous.

What's the helicopter bill?...In short. Is it to make using one legal or are they trying to outlaw it?

I'd pay good money to get a chance at something like some of the videos I have seen!

Its called to pork chopper bill and it will take effect September 1. It allows land owners to contract helicopters and you can pay to do what you see in all of those videos.

have a place in 3rd island, used to shoot quite a few deer, now all we shoot are hogs, killed 4 deer in last 3 years and probably 50 hogs. they are eating and destroying everything. i go to west texas to deer hunt now, when i get back i go pop a few hogs to use for pork in the sausage instead of buying pork. at least they are good for that

Man, I can't wait till guides start offerring this! I'll be broke but will have slung some lead! Almost like one of those chopper gunners from Nam!...No disrespect meant to any member of the armed forces.

yeah I think they will be pretty affordable. Charge by the hour. I just stick with night vision hunting for hogs for now. It is so fun to sneek up on them and let loose!
