![]() Due to the situation with LSU we know that threads will be started in General covering the topic...we figured it would be best if news be known (i'm sure most already know) and then discussions on the matter will be held in the Sports Bar section of the website. Here is the news and links BATON ROUGE- Police have arrested two LSU football players implicated in a fight outside a bar last week. Sgt. Don Stone with BRPD said arrest warrants were executed for quarterback Jordan Jefferson and Josh Johns for second-degree battery. Jefferson and Johns, a linebacker, face felony charges for their alleged roles in a fight outside Shady's in Baton Rouge on Aug. 19 that injured four people. The players' attorney, Nathan Fisher, and LSU Coach Les Miles have requested that Jefferson and Johns turn themselves in. They are in the process of making those arrangements. As a result of the arrests, LSU head coach Les Miles announced that Jordan Jefferson and Josh Johns have been suspended indefinitely from the LSU football team.. "We will continue to cooperate with the authorities in an effort to find out exactly what took place during the incident," said Miles. "As sad as this incident is, it's important that we learn from this and that we take away a valuable lesson. This has weighed on all of us. It's time for us to come together as a team and focus on what we are here to do." A police report says a 19-year-old woman named Victoria Long said she witnessed several LSU players beating one of the alleged victims and saw Jefferson kick that man in the face. BRPD is holding a press conference at 2:30 p.m. to formally announce the arrests and answer questions. We'll bring you the latest information on News 2 at Noon. Baton Rouge - LSU football players Jordan Jefferson and Josh Johns have turned themselves in to Baton Rouge police after being charged with felony second-degree battery Friday. Police issued arrest warrants for the two for their roles in a bar fight Aug. 19 at Shady's bar. BRPD contacted LSU Coach Les Miles and the players' attorney, Nathan Fisher, to request the players turn themselves in, which they did at 10:15 a.m. at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Attorney Shannon Fay transported the players to the prison and bail was set at $5,000 each. Both players bonded out at about 11:40 a.m. Shortly after surrendering to police, both players were suspended indefinitely by Miles. Jefferson is the team's starting quarterback. Johns is a reserve linebacker. "Jordan and Josh have been suspended indefinitely," Miles said in a statement released by the school. "We will continue to cooperate with the authorities in an effort to find out exactly what took place during the incident. "As sad as this incident is, it's important that we learn from this and that we take away a valuable lesson. This has weighed on all of us. It's time for us to come together as a team and focus on what we are here to do." Jefferson and Johns were implicated with teammates Chris Davenport and Jarvis Landry in the fight which left four people injured, one seriously. Jefferson's absence means Jarrett Lee is the LSU starting quarterback on Sept. 3 when the No. 4 ranked Tigers play No. 3 Oregon in the Cowboys Classic in Arlinton's Cowboys Stadium. http://espn.go.com/ncf/conversations...arrants-issued

If they have determined that a “high capacity” semiautomatic pistol and a .223 semiautomatic rifle with 30-round magazines are the best firearms for them to use to protect people like me and my family, they are obviously the best things for us to use to protect ourselves and our families . |
