i just ordered a n2k starter kit and a lowrance ep-60 fuel flow meter, but if i can command link to relay the same thing, then i wouldnt need the lowrance fuel flow meter. I know mpg can be displayed on our units using the lowrance fuel flow meter, but command link would come with a whole lot more data than just fuel flow. Im waiting to hear something from the company that makes a command link cable. Either way mpg will be on the display and soon as i figure out the cheapest and easiest route to take, i'll pass the info along.

That'd be sick man, make sure you let us know. I'm guessing the optimaxes would have something similar. I also have the lowrance 522 |

All you need is a Lowrance Yamaha adapter cable (Lowrance part #120-37) and a NEMA starter kit. The adapter will plug in to your command-link buss bar and then connect to the NEMA 2K system. I had this setup on my HPDI 250/LCX113 and it shows everything, really cool. I now have full guage display through an HDS 8 with an Optimax. It is well worth it. I think the adapter cable is around $75.

if i am looking at this right, the lowrance interface would plug into a white connection under the fuel filter. its the only thing i can see anything plugging into. this is an 07 f150.

If you don't have a command link buss, it goes to the white plug under the filter you described. Newer command link uses a buss to plug each gauge into, usually there is one mounted in the rear of the boat and another under the console.

Opti depends on gauges, newer Smartcraft are N2K compatible out of the box. On my last 2 opti's, I had the Eco-Monitor which has the nema plug on it. Let me know what gauge package you have and I can get you hooked up.

I have my 2 Lowrance HDS and my F150 Yamaha networked.
I Love it. It will plug into the white plug under the fuel filter. |

Kenner18,
From everything I have been able to find, so far, you must have the SmartCraft MercMonitor to get the N2K info. The SmartCraft system is proprietary to Mercury and the monitor is the only thing that converts the info. The MercMonitor is the only guage I have on my boat and it shows everything, which is pretty cool. I have a call into a buddy that may know more. |
