The place on Gulf Highway makes the best for the money imo. Southside Welding is the name I think.

My 6" Hi-Jacker came from the Yamaha Shop, I would imagine that Lake Area or Jorgensens in Beaumont has them in stock...

On that note, any suggestions on how much set back? I know I'm opening a can of worms now.

http://www.cajunjacker.net/ I got one on my whaler, very good plate. On that size boat/motor a 4-5inch setback is all you need.

What about 5 1/2" of setback? Looking at manual CMC one at bass pros shops and it has 5 1/2" of set back. I have beaucoup rewards points saved up with them.

Setback is not very important on a jon boat...Unless you have a tunnel. If so you want the least amount of setback possible, tunnel runs best with the prop closer to the tunnel. Keep in mind the more the setback the more you have to reach for the tiller handle.

6" setback worked for me, engine mount bolts are installed at the highest setting and jack plate is adjusted up as far as it will go... The engine sits a good 6-7" higher than the transom...
My Yamaha does have the big tiller on it however... Hydro |
