Default New Technique

This technique has been around in certain areas, but will skyrocket in popularity after this week as several bass pros are using it to dominate a FLW event in Alabama. It is called the Alabama Rig. Has anybody every tried it in saltwater? I would think that it would be unbelievably successful. Can you imagine in the birds right now. Look at the video in the link. To see what it looks like, go straight to the 4:35 mark of the video.

I've seen setups like this but bigger, used offshore trolling behind the boat; but might be a nightmare to cast.

The titanium arms keep them from tangling, but I've never seen one with hooks in every bait and used for anything other than trolling. It has to be impossible to cast in the wind. I bet it weighs 3 ounces rigged. Would make for great backlash videos and would catch seagulls by the dozen.

I'm sure it catches fish. But I don't think I'd ever fish with one on a serious fishing trip

Almost all of the top 10 this week on the FLW pro bass tour used the set up. I don't know what bait was used, but the winner, Paul Elias used it all 4 days and had a limit of 5 each day and a total weight of 102.8lbs with 20 fish. It is definitely interesting and was just curious if anybody has ever tried it. If you stretch your imagination, it really is just a speck rig on steroids.

Don't think I could see myself fishing that in my tournaments... I've thrown a double style rig during the blown out schools during summer. Just depends on your style of fishing.

looked it up and the main part is $25, that's before you add baits on it..... could not imagine losing that with 5 baits that run over $5 each hooked on

It is.. just cant use more than 1 rod at one time. no different than throwing a lure with 3 treble hooks.

You would have to have a special rod and set up just for that contraption....storage would be tough too...looks like the demonstrator had no problems casting in calm conditions....interesting though.....

Pretty crazy setup. How many reds would it take before the wires were trashed?
