Default Ellender bridge launch

Cleaned some fish there this morning. Water real low with all the North winds and out going tides.
This is the East ramp by the RV park.
Coon prints all over in the mud. They been eating the fish carcasses at night, I guess.

Yeah, but that side is very shallow to start with. You can't launch a bay boat there normally. Just aluminum flats. Probably 2' normal depth.

I dont get out to big lake much, but when I do thats where I launch. I really appreciate this post, cause, I come from lafayette, and would be big time disappointed if this is what I got when I go to launch. Where else can I launch to get to big lake? I'm coming from lafayette and usually launch out of ellender or joe's... Any help would be much appreciated.

You can still launch at Ellenders. Just don't use the East launch. Almost everyone uses the west launch anyway

The West launch is deep. No issues yet. Winds were kickin about 20 mph outta the North that morning. That would make for an interesting launch.

When you launch on the west end be very careful leaving and returning to the launch. It can get shallow on both sides of the launch in the winter. Go out and in square to the launch. My buddy has gotten into the bad habit of backing out and then going forward as soon as he can clear the docks. He doesn't understand why he hits rocks or mud in the winter and not in the summer.
