FlagUS Another new guy

Hey,

New here. I have a small 17ft. aluminum boat with a 50 on the back. Planning on going out of Cypremort Point on Friday and going thru Shark Bayou to Weeks Bay. First time going there. Is the bayou good fishing? What should I use - shrimp? Fresh or previously frozen? Live Cocahoes? Johnson Sprite? I have caught reds and specs on all of the above in Grand Isle. Any advice would really help. Thanks!

Shark bayou is good to fish on a falling tide, but I always catch better in weeks bay. For reds shrimp under a cork and spinnerbaits. For trout plastic cocahoes on the bottom and under a cork with a 1/4 oz jighead. You might have to move around a good bit with your trolling motor and/or drift with the wind till you find em.

Welcome. The boat traffic in Shark Bayou may be too much to fish it right now, people use it to get from Cyp Pnt to Weeks Bay. Water was good right out the launch canal, pick an empty spot and start fishing. Beetles under a cork and Cacohoes on the bottom should get you some trout. Good luck

Welcome I'm new here also and have found this to be one of the most helpful and friendliest sites on the net. Just check the post regularly and you can get a pretty good idea of when and where. And don't forget to post when you get back. (Share the info)

Welcome aboard! This is a great place. It cant get rough at times but its all in good fun. I wish I could help you out, but as montauk17 said, shrimp under a cork for reds works most of the time. Plastics for specs. Hope you catch! Post a report with a pic, it gets you extra "sc cash" which you can spend on a raffle every now and then!
