Ducks 1-10

Only 2 woodies this morning, but left at 7:00. Water came up 1.5 feet in 12 hours. Maybe the rain dancing paid off? Should be on for the rest of the season. Now we have our hole more or less filled. Set and reset decoys tonight. All we need now is cold. Finally have enough water to set a decent spread. Have about 55 deeks on an acre and a half, hopefully enough to pull in some of the big flocks that have been around. Most folks on this forum, from what I've read hunt the marsh or ag fields. Mallards have been in the timber. Hunting has been inconsistant due to weather but there are good numbers of greenheads in the swamps. The old timers have been killing in the trees they just been keeping quiet. 18 days left and were in the home stretch. I cut a new hole in the oaks this year and am itching to give that a try. Heard woodies calling from it on my way back from setting deeks.

On a side note: I've been seeing a ton of specs in the cypress. Anyone have luck getting them to decoy in the trees?
