Default An American Hero called Home

Today my Grandfather passed at the age of 90 . He grew up in the small town of Churchpoint LA. Inlisted in the Army and served his country proudly in WW II ,in the battle against Japan untill he was discharged in Dec 1945. I will never forget how he taught me that hard work was the only way to be sucessful in life ,and how he never gave up till the end. Not only did he survive the war ,but also he survived a battle with cancer . Unfourtunately he developed alzihmers in the last few years and began a rapid downfall in his health . This summer he was diagnosed with lung cancer ,which finally got the better of him this morning. I will never forget his smile ,or the way he always had a joke or funny story that made me laugh . He was a simple man whos idea of dressed up was bib overalls and an old straw hat.
May He finally rest in peace in heaven with his wife .

I am sorry for your loss Trey, my Grandfather also a WWII vet much like your grandfather died earlier this year. I would not have a college education if it were not for him.

People please, if you see a WWII vet, shake their hand and tell them thank you. This country is what it is today because of people like Trey's grandfather and I do not care if that is not politically correct to say.

There will never be another generation like the WWII vets, I am thankful for what your grandfather did for all of us.

You grandfather seems to have had a very positive influence on your life.

Take it from me, if you get a chance to speak about him, do it....
