Nice mess of fish. If you are worried about line on light tackle, a lower pound test of powerpro is a good choice. Reds don't mind if you don't use a leader.

When I clean reds I find that my Dexter Russel works better than my electric knife. Instead of sawing through the bones you maneuver around them...NICE CATCH!

I don't think there is any electric knife that will stand up to cleaning Red fish on a regular basis......... unless you really take your time and never "force" the knife while cleaning the fish.
A Dexter Russel serrated knife is what I am using and I can clean several Red's in the time it takes to clean 1 using an electric knife. |

they are nice but how do you sharpen them?

It's kind of a PITA but you have to get a file made for sharpening serrated knives and do each serration. It takes a long time for them to get dull though.

Power pro 30 or even 40 in areas where there is a shot of getting larger fish as cobia, tripple tail, or red snapper. As for the redfish A dexter cerated or even a dexter roast beef slicer. The roast beef slicer has to be dulled prior to cleaning fish.
One nice day of fishing. Hope you have a lot more like that. |
