Just got a power pole this year. LOVE. IT. Downside is coastal fishing it's realistically gonna work only about 50% of the time. Can't really handle any swells, or current, unless you can really stab it into a soft sediment. Also, mine at least, had a ghost drain on my battery. Not a big deal, and finally got me off my butt about installing the perko.

Upside- OMG! It's amazing. Do you have a swabbie who is your anchor b****? That person will proclaim their undying love after the first trip out. Also, in very windy conditions, or situations needing to align the boat in a particular way (ie, I want to be broadside behind rocks to increase prime fishing real estate) if you use in conjunction with anchor, you are set.

It's a really cool toy, and totally worth the $

X2 there is a thread down in the boating section or tackle box on this issue. I have had both, I will never own a Talon again. You cannot give me one.

I love my power pole. Ive never had any problems with it not holding even in rough water buy my boat is only 18'. Power pole is what you want, well worth the money IMO.

I have used both, and own a Talon.
I will never own a Talon again either.
They are too weak to pull out of the mud and they are very noisy.
You don't want noisy when you are fishing.
