Last summer while idling in the back of a cut, about to get underway in the spillway, had about a 15lber smack me...tail part hit my right cheek and body/head hit my chest/rib cage....I thought my padnuh had sucker punched me as I was dazed for a few seconds...I was thinking, What did I do to you?, then I looked down and saw the beast flopping and bleeding on the floor of the boat....Knocked the wind out of me, couldn't draw a breath with all that air out there....Had a fist size bruise on my rib cage...If we would have been doing 60mph when that thing hit me, I would have been dead or in the ICU....Those things are bad news....

I've had one break my front pedestal seat off the mount. Also had a buddy darn near knocked out cold by one that jumped and hit him in the chest while on step. No getting rid of them.

I see it as a potential industry. Have some kind of net system and haul them in, grind up for fish meal use for cattle feed...good protein and tdn source. And, could help reduce the numbers.

The crawfishermen in my area won't event take them for free to use as bait. But I have used it in my rec. crab traps and did decent with it as bait.

I heard they were slimey like a gafftop catfish and not good for anything. I wonder if you could make catfood out of them. People pay good money for Puss n Boots and that one in WT's photo is a lot of cans...

That is not good that they have made it to Vermilion Bay....I have read where their salinity tolerance is quite high as well. Anyone seen them around Venice?

Me and a buddy went snagging for them a few times, our best day yet was 400 pounds of fish in one afternoon. We gaffed them, let them die, and then threw them back at the end of the day as not to make a big mess.

This is about 2/3 of what we ended up with that day. Most fish were either 8-10 or 20-25 pounds. There are two grass carp also included.

I was just disappointed to see that people had left spoonbills on the bank as well as ones with just heads left.
