Hey Guys. I'll be fishing the Fishing for Memories Rodeo in ICY this Thursday thru SUNDAY.

Forecast is for ESE and East winds 10-15MPH and 15-20MPH all this week.

SO I'm ASKIN!!! Can someone give a me a few spots I can fish in BL. I'll probably be fishing the channel down in Cameron where me and my son won the best inshore boat 2 yrs ago.

Hopefully the channel won't be dirty. I guess I'm asking for alot. LOL. I just need a few big trout spots. LNG??? Where??? West Cove??? WHERE. Eastern Shore????

BTW. There will be a Oilmans saltwater tournament also in BL this coming weekend.

Thanks

Gunner

Good luck Gunner! I was hoping to fish closer to home this year too, but I plan to hit Big Lake again this year. I'll see you at the weigh in.

If the winds are more east than south, the jetties give a good chance of keeping the wave action down and holly beach could end up with clear water. Check in on Wed and ask for a report, the guys here are great with the holly beach updates.

Chasing big specks can be a hard game when the wind blows in Big Lake. If you are willing to give the drum or catfish categories a try, then set up on the west side of the jetties, and bring crab for bait. We caught a bunch of big drum and gafftops last Thu, and on Sat, we weighed and measured multiple gafftops that would have become 2nd place in the Louisiana all time record book had the anglers who caught them bothered to fill out the paperwork and have them officially weighed. We caught most of our gafftops on crab while drum fishing. Other folks were catching them mostly on cut mullet.

Winning the redfish category is a different challenge, you need two redfish just under 27" that are relatively fat for their length. The weirs have been closed, and the fish coming from the east and north ends of the lake have not been as fat as the fish coming from the south and west. I'd be thinking southwest or south central in the redfish category.
