Default Venice, LA advice

I am going to be going to Venice for the first time in early September and bringing my boat (22 ft. NauticStar). I was looking for any advice regarding areas to focus on fishing as well as areas to avoid. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Additionally, if there are any maps you recommend I should get that might have obstructions and/or fishing spots I’d appreciate that as well.

my opinion only.......

Venice is an area where you fish "water" more than "places"
If you are targeting redfish, green water with modest depth, (6 plus) that is nervous and moving is always good.

Trout is tougher, but the east side of the river is good this time of year out of Babtiste Collette. fish good colored water on rigs in 12 - 16 feet is perfect.

it would be great to fish with a guide one day to learn so tactics for the area.

It's such a wide expanse, a small mistake can turn big quickly.

I have not been out there in a while so my advice is worthless really.

I fish there all the time and would not recommend someone going alone for the first time. You should hire a guide for a few times are learn the way that I did,(fish with friends from the area for several years before going alone). But if you must go on your own launch at joshuas in BURAS and go about 1 mile to the southeast and fish along the canes with green sparkle beetles under a cork and you will catch all the reds and flounder you want. The trout in that area will be small that time of year but can be caught on certain reefs in that area but i cant explain to u how to get to them. Bigger trout on that side of the river can b caught at the sandy point rigs and in the surf.Down in Venice trout start moving in the passes but there still are some at the main pass block 69 rigs. Be careful and good luck, there are underwater hazards all over that area.
