Default vehicle warranty rant!

so ticked right now! extended vehicle warranties are a load of crap! just paid $98 to a well known ford dealership for a them to tell me that a warranty company won't pay for a faulty part until it 100% fails, which would mean that it would cause more damage then if it was replaced at first signs of failure! so now I have to get in touch with the warranty company myself and plead with them to buy me a part, which they already know about because I brought my vehicle into a service department. bad part is it would of been cheaper for me to buy the part and replace it myself, which would take 30 minutes of my time and would of cost me $81.91,
next rant when a service department tells you they drove your truck for 30 minutes and couldn't reproduce the braking problem I was having, but I could drive less then 2 miles to my apartment and tell I was having the same problem that I drove into the dealership with this morning. Then I after the second time I drive there which was at 5pm and they tell me the warranty company still won't pay for a sticking caliber, it has to be totally locked out for them to change it, which would mean that it would mess up my brake pads and rotor which would cost me over $350 to fix because the warranty company doesn't pay for brakes and rotors! dang I pissed! what I think it comes down to is the warranty company sucks and the dealership doesn't want to deal with them because they rather the money coming out of my pocket because it goes into there bank account faster!

3rd rant I paid $1200 for this stupid extended warranty, it has a $50 deductible and it is about to expire in 600 miles. Any way I see it, I'm out the money to repair my vehicle myself and not get the great "warranty" that I paid for and I was told by the dealer which is out of town that it would cover anything for 2 yrs 24K miles. its the last time I buy an extended warranty! the money paid for it would be better put aside for repairs!

I got burnt before, TWICE. Just believe me you don't want to hear all this mess. Lets just say it was a used vehicle I bought from a dealership and purchased extra warranty. The water pump went out but I didn't own it long enough for the warranty to kick in. After a little temper tantrum in the dealership they fudged the dates on their paperwork and I got me a water pump.

I didn't even say which car dealer I went to, but I've already heard a few people tell me they go threw the same crap when they go, they don't do the work your complaining about they want to fix something else, they told me my brake pads looked new, but I should get my rotors turned because my steering shimmys when braking, which I have never experience in this truck! they just told me that to try to get me to have it done in the front, which the caliber that is sticking is in the back. and I know most people don't know whats wrong with there cars when they bring into a car dealership thats why they bring it, I brought mine only because I paid for a warranty, not because I like there service, I know there are small shop with more honest mechanics out there who make a good living because there honest, not because they are trying to replace everything under your hood for a bigger commission check!

Those smaller shops (most of them) can do your extended warranty claims.

yeah I talked to one today, after I left the ford dealership closest to where I work. they told me that the warranty company I have is a hard one to deal with but they do warranty work. they also told me that they would never tell someone they drove there car for 30 minute trying to find a problem, they told me dealerships won't drive your car off the lot! I rather of drove it with one of em in my truck and tell them what I feel and then get out and tell them hey you smell that burning brake pad?

Drive it back to the dealer that sold it to you. Maybe it will totally lock up on the way. They can pay for a tow also. Selling dealer won't respond, then have a very loud and distasteful meltdown in the middle of the showroom.

selling dealer is 65 miles away, and I wouldn't want to break down on I-10 going from Baton Rouge to New Orleans!

I had a rear caliper lock up on my wifes suburban. Dragging real bd, and i called them. They said to bring it in. I told them they should send a tow truck, "just bring it in". Okay..... So I drive it there and the caliper and the pads are under warranty but since I continued to drive it and caused more damage I would have to pay 325 dollars to get the rotors turned. Yeah 15 bucks at autozone if I pull them. So after I lose my religion they charged me the $100 deductible for the whole gig. I was one pizzed off mutha. They said the $325 was labor for pulling the rotors. They had to pull the caliper for the warranty work, so how much time does it take to slide the rotor off?? I know they charge you by what their book says but on a vehicle with less than 30,000 miles.......

I went through the same crap. When I purchased my 08 Chevy new I got the extended warranty. I had no idea it was through some third party company. I thought I purchased a Chevy warranty from Chevy. Well my transmission starting acting up so I drove straight there and told them what it was doing. Ok sir leave it with us for the day and we will drive it around and diagnose the problem. Cool so that's what I did. Left it there and they called me that evening and said nothing is wrong with it. So I pick it up and 1 week later back up there again. This time they tell me they MAY know what the problem is but warranty will not cover it till it has completely failed. So I said no problem! I drove my truck to talladega up and down the mountains and brought it back stuck in second gear. After a lot of arguing back and forth I got a brand new transmission!

I had water not dripping but flowing into my 2009 F150 I bought new from a Ford Dealer in Baton Rouge. Still under warranty, but did not cover missing interior trim part which was missing from when they built the truck. Of course Ford bumper to bumper warranty nor Ford Extend Service Policy wouldn't pay for it. Cost me $550 to replace trim part and $595 to fix interior mold problems on a truck under a so called bumper to bumper warranty. Solved the Ford problem and bought a Dodge truck which I have had better service and knock on wood no problems so far. I love it Ford still sends me survey's about Ford products weekly since the beginning of 2012.

Here is a good Ford Dealer repair which was finally fixed under bumper to bumper warranty.
My air sensor light stayed after I check all four of my tires
They fix one sensor $215 not covered under warranty.
Next week light comes back on. Sensor in next tire which Ford said was my fault $215 not covered under warranty.
Next week another sensor goes back in rear tire and finally Ford said the senors were bad in my truck.
I guess three times and $530 plus tax is the charm for a Ford Dealer to admit the sensors are bad.

I have owned Fords since 1997 until 2010 and only draw back to Ford is the service from Ford Dealers in Baton Rouge and getting Ford Motor Company to pay for anything is lously.

A Ford dealership "in my home town" wouldn't honor a 8 year 80,000 mile federal mandated warranty on my exhaust system 05 F150. So I brought it to another dealership and they fixed without hesitation!
