![]() So, just a heads up, drain separator and change filters often. Ford is not covering any fuel related damages under warranty. I have read alot about custormers with $9k to $11k worth of damage and warranty not covering it. Also gotta give props to the Lake Charles dealer - Bolton Ford Quick Lane. |

I sold my Dodge diesel due to fighting same issues so your not alone but just for a heads up, if you have full coverage insurance on truck those expenses may be covered...... State Farm covet over $6000 in damages due to bad fuel and it don't go against insurance, its comprehensive.

I had the simular issue last year. I added an auxillary tank in the bed and water was getting into that tank through one of the plugs on the tank. They just changed the sensor. I change the filters every 10K miles and I drain my seperator every month like clock work and have not had another issue. What Hub City Ford told me was to buy quality fuel at stations that sold large volumes of diesel where as it did sit in there storage tank for long periods of time. Do you use fuel additives? The motor craft additive is good just a little pricey at the dealer, I use the diesel Kleen made by power service at walmart in the gray bottle every other fill up. It is a cetaine booster and it lubricates the internals of the fuel pump and cleans injectors. But besides that I have not had any other issues with the 6.4 liter engine.

I run Marvel Mystery Oil in my 7.3 Never have any problems other that change the filters every 20,000 miles or so. I try to buy all my fuel at the same truck stop if possible.

I think alot of the problems started with the 6.4 and newer. Maybe some 6.0s. Fuel system alot more sensitive.

You ever drain your water seperator? Or do you just change your filters? Ive heard the 6.0s were a PIA to drain because there is an allen screw that had to be removed to drain it. The 6.4s have a valve that opens and closes by hand but it is still under the truck on driver side frame.

I have never had problems with my 06 Dodge diesel. But make sure I buy from good stations and not old stores. Change fuel filters every 10,000 miles.
