![]() Anyway...that day I headed out, the water was ugly, but had some movement and bait, and caught a couple keeper specks and a couple other throwbacks. Not bad I thought for conditions, and fished only about 1 1/2 before getting ready to head to courthouse. So, being I had to do some work there today, I did the same thing. Water was clearer than the past time. Didn't seem to be much current, but there was mullet everywhere. Only managed 2 throwback reds! No specks hit. So I'm asking you experts...is along those rocks a decent place for land-locked folks like me? Is it worth it? A few boats stopped to fish on their way to 210 bridge, so I figured I was in a decent spot, but got skunked! |

Yes, it is worth it. I have fished there in the evenings when the tide is moving and have caught several keeper specks... dont give up on that spot!

Besides the bait fish that you saw, I would think there would also be some shrimp comming out of the bayou this time of the year. I have caught shrimp castnetting there.

Hit the mouth of that little bayou where the rocks begin (there are bumps on the side) on an outgoing tide... there are a couple of deep holes that hold specs... occasional reds. you need bait to be coming outta the marsh to be good. just start from the mouth and walk out to the point making casts. That little penninsula was chock o block full of boats at one time last winter. look for that area to get better as it gets colder.

Thanks guys. Going to be in the area for Friday, so will hit it that morning from the second I can see (nautical daylight) till about 8am or so, to wash up and head to the courthouse.
The time I tried last month and caught a couple specks (as well as a bunch of those aggravating lady fish 2 at a time), it was closer to the bayou where SaltE talked about. However, should I be fishing that with some sort of topwater? I got hung on the bottom several times? Seems like it's almost too shallow with trash out there if I cast to the left where those bumps are. Thanks again. Much appreciated. |
