Default Venice / Empire

Had an offshore trip for today. The 5-15 was blowing 15 plus directly out of the south. This is the worse direction for us. We left the dock and I turned around quickly. I loaded the Glaicer Bay on the trailor and headed for Empire. Put it in the driveway and grabbed the Avenger. The customers said they wanted to go inshore instead of going back to the motel and stare at eachother.

We got a late start. The water was dirty and rough inshore but we managed to find a few fish. The first corner we tucked into gave up some nice trout. Suddenly Lisa's line starts singing and I knew we had our first red of the day.

As we moved around we found many small fish with and occasional wake up call.

After she had her third one in the boat the jaw jacking was getting thick.

Her husband Brian being a good fisherman was watching her land keepers and he was the hard head catfish king of the day. In his frustration he decided to play hard head football He brought one in the boat and before I could get to it the fish falls off the hook onto the deck. Being frustrated he kicks it off the boat The fish and his foot go up in the air and the fish and his foot come back down still attached. The fin went through his sneeker and into his foot. He had no idea how much more painfull a hardhead is than a regular catfish. While he was watching his foot swell up and burn I guess god felt sorry for him and sent a nice red his way. At this point he could not stand on his foot due to the pain and burning. I had no pitty in his stupid move and he will NEVER kick another catfish off a boat Hardhead or not.

When all was said and done we did put some meat in the box. Made the best of a bad day after all. 2 reds just over 27 and 3 other good ones, 10 specks and a white trout and 2 sheepshead. All our black drum were just undersize.

A member of CTFisherman just arrived. Watch for more fishing action soon.
