Default Top Water Flounder ?? Need Advice

Got to a spot Sunday and I could see flounder busting the surface chasing bait. Saw at least 30 or 40. Tried to catch them but he water was 1' and the bottom was really muddy. Tried reeling in fast but still hitting bottom.

Has anyone had success in real shallow water with any type of topwater?

Cast net

I know a couple of people that have caught a flounder on top. Don't know what they were using though

u try a 1/16 oz jig head?? typically use that in shallow water marsh fishin in the kayak when sight fishing for reds.

Never tried it for flounder but a PopR works well in certain conditions. but again we are talking about redfish.

Goooood question man.... those two above wouldve been my first try.... I would like to know as well.

I have seen them do that before and throw the box at them and not be able to get them to bite. But I've also seen them do that and they ate my grub as soon as it hit the water.

Take a #1 Kahle hook. No weight and nose hook a gulp. Throw it right on top of where he swirled and twitch lightly and hold on. Typically they won't chase bait. They ambush and the bait schools over them and then they explode up and grab some and go right back down in same spot. Just drop it on his head and shake rod tip. I have ran into exactly this situation in the marsh by Black Lake and crushed em.

As crazy as this may sound, chunk a clear tiny torpedo on them. Caught them like that before.

Default 3 tailed shrimp

will work here, wife and I were in the keys and a big dolphin was hanging out under a pallet and he wouldn't bite the bait and the guide told the deckhand to get the 3 tailed shrimp. he came out with a weighted treble hook and starts trying to snag this thing. After about 4 casts I told him we weren't really that interested if we have to snag a dang fish

This works. Or use a cork and a pogy or shrimp and set it where it just drifts over the bottom.

Beetle Spin with light leadhead any curly tailedplastic with the point of the curl facing down when retrieved. Been smashing flounder and red's with this rig . Silver spinner works for me.

Its hard to compete with what they are feeding on when they hit on the top sometimes. I've had really good luck taking a 1/8 oz jig head and a smaller bait regardless of what they are feeding on. Ill usually use a swim mullet or deadly Dudley. The trick here is to tip it with a piece of shrimp and dragggg the bait. They can't stand it and the shrimp is just enough to drive them crazy. In my experiences with this situation its more about size of the bait and movement. Try it out

I think he is asking if anyone catches them on top water baits.

I've had good luck in really shallow water using an inline spinner.

I have had them hit my popping cork before and it took me a couple cast for them to get the bait!

In freshwater they call that a 3-legged cricket. Those bedding momma's hate 'em.
