Cheers Dularge Trout & Redfish 4-13-13

We had four groups fishing out of The Reel Inn Lodge today. We knew we had a window of calm winds in the morning so we all departed right after the sky was cracking. James & Pangsri Smith, and Anthony Perceval from Houston joined me. Eric Danos and crew fished with Capt Olden Rodrigue, and Kenny Moreau's group with Capt Kevin Labat. We were greeted with calm winds/seas and clean water at our first stop. It didn't take long at our first stop before Pangsri was breaking the ice with a nice trout. James joined in as the two had some back to back doubles coming in. The bite slowed and we started drifting picking away at the specks. Capt Olden's crew got on a hot bite slinging them in almost every cast, but we kept our distance not wanting to mess their bite up. We kept drifting pecking away but never getting on that mother load bite. The winds started picking up and the bite slowed to a crawl, time to move!! We found a flock of birds diving on shrimp in the rough seas and put a couple more on ice. Plan B was then put into effect and we headed to more protected waters. It didn't take long before 18 yr old Anthony hooked into his first ever red-fish, and he was a brute and did not want to come into the boat!!! What a great fight and experience for Anthony! The reds weren't very hungry as we only had 7 hit the deck of the Bluewave and we covered some water. Matrix Shad and TTF Killer Flats Minnows did their work once again today putting all our fish in the boat. Thank goodness for the Power-Pole as this is one tool that is a necessity in the wind. Big thanks to Capt's Olden and Kevin for showing the customers a great time and putting them on the fish in such horrible conditions.
Nothing like finishing the day off with a huge crawfish boil! Huge thanks to Leonard Adkins for bringing down 5 sacks of crawfish to boil for us. I must admit they were the best tasting crawfish I have ever eaten.
