Dularge Report
Great trout action on the DU! Our trout fishing is about as good as it gets. The good news is that the trout have finally shown up at the island and ship shoal platforms. No need to go that far just yet as I've limited out by 10:00 am the past 3 days in the Sister Lake/Lake Mechant area. For you guys in the smaller boats, there are still big numbers of 16-20 inch fish in the lakes and bays. Bunker & blueback swimbaits,LSU chubs and VUDU shrimp are the only lures we have been using on a daily basis. All of our trout have been caught on flats & reefs as we have not fished the birds at all. Most of the fish we're catching are feeding on finger mullets and small 2 inch finfish. When the action slows on the swimbaits we switch to chunking the VUDU shrimp and it usually gets them going again. The 'gold' and 'natural' colors have worked best. Big reds are showing up back in the lakes and some really big flounder have been caught the past couple weeks. We're off to a great start as hundreds of fish were caught in April with the best fishing yet to come. Good luck fishing. Capt Bill Lake 985-637-3712 |
