Default Gurls was Full

Guess you really have to consider where this occurred, it may be the norm in Orleans Parish.

Oh C'mon guys, Orleans is not the only place this happens. When I was 10, my first driving lesson was on my way home from a duck hunt in Cameron Parish after my dad had a few too many beers. Come to think of it my first beer was in the same hunting camp. The camp was a few hundred yards from the gulf near just 200 yards or so west of the ship channel. My dad simply asked if I wanted to drive the red Ford Econoline van, and I said, "Sure!" Hwy 27 was pretty lonely in those days and I think I made it to Hackberry before my dad thought there was too much traffic for me to continue.

I know it's not 1977 anymore, but there are a lot of boondocks in Louisiana, and I'm sure we've all seen and participated in our share of vehicular folly.

MG, I drove all over the place as a kid but never on I-10 in New Orleans with my drunk grandmother. Bet the 10 yo's mother is in prison and he doesn't know who his daddy is.

I used to drive my dads truck all over Basile when I was a kid. I would even go to the local watering hole and charge a 12 pack to his tab from time to time. LMAO good ole days.

We moved to NO when I was 11, and you don't want to know the list of tricks we tried before we turned 21.

That said, the few run ins we had with the law were, in fact, beneficial. Of special note is when we ran the red light while drunk and got t-boned by one of NO's finest in a yellow Cadillac. And then there was the car chase with the off duty officer in the Porsche (he was in the Porsche, I was in a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme ... I caught him, boxed him in, and my compadres in the other vehicle made good their escape. My brother got caught later when he drove the Cutlass by the same fellow's house later that night. A high-speed chase ensued from Metairie to West End Park, at which time my brother talked his way out of it with only a warning.) The t-boning by the Cadillac was the end of the Cutlass Supreme, a beautiful and fine car, but I was once passed while doing 100 mph down I-10.

I'm not saying that the players in this recent NO incident should not receive the legal consequences they have coming. I'm saying that we shouldn't be pounding our chests and shaking our fingers because we've all done stupid and dangerous stuff.

the best part of that story is NOT that the 10 year old was driving while the adults were drunk...it is that there was also a 15 year old passenger IN THE CAR. Was the 15 year old hammered too? *** wouldnt you have the 15 year old drive instead of the 10 year old?

Thats what I was thinking!! I too drove my dad back and forth to Mass on Sundays from age 9, on the weekends that mom was working. found out years later mom had no idea,I blew the driving test away when I turned 15 though..this was in the 70's however.

I used to drive my dad to the deer camp at about 12 y/o. One time I got caught speeding and my dad and I switched seats before pulling over. The good ole days!

I know I was driving my dad back from Don's boat landing after too many when I was 10. By the time i was 15 i was needing a driver myself! But we talking about Henry there not I-10. That's crazy!
