State park is your best bet hands down. Although, camp I'm looking at buying has a 50a hookup!

I dont have any experience with the rv parks but here is a listing of all of them. You might pm "H" he owns the Leeville rv park and is a great guy. I'm sure he has the scoop of who to deal with on the island. http://www.townofgrandisle.com/lodging/

Bridgeside is the only one Ive stayed at. Nothing fancy, but close to store/ marina. You can keep your boat in the water. They do have 50 amp service. They have just about everything you need. But I have heard the state park is nicer for camping. Does thew state park have 50 amp?

My cousin has a 5th wheel that requires a 50 amp service and we stayed at Island House RV Park, which is about mid island. Really nice owners and they offered up some fishing tips. There is a fish cleaning station on site. I would definitely stay there again.

The state park is nice just a pain in the *** with a boat. You can not park on the grass and have to leave the boat in the public parking are by the pier unless you get 2 sites. I had 2 plano boxes stolen out of the boat last year because of having to park over there.

Yeah. The State Park is the best for camping and wade fishing and is cheaper if you can get a spot. Bridgeside for better for everything else. Pay the extra to keep your boat in the water if you stay at Bridge Side. It's worth it.
Really, I go down there to fish. That's why I stay in Leeville. Closer, don't have to fuss with the bridge and more options to fish and less people to deal with. The only thing GI has over Leeville is more/better places to stay and the beach. If I put in at Bridge Side it's because I'm planning on fishing on the outside/beaches. It's a hassle to get around to the West side from GI. Put in at Leeville and you can run East/West/South or North depending on what the weather serves up and if you want to fish outside/beaches go up through Fouchon and Bam there you are or run up the East side into the Bay. Weather is cold or wind has the bay stired up go North to Catfish lake. That is why Leeville is the best all around area in my opinion. "H" has a campground there. Maybe he has an opening? If not Boudreaux's has two spots by the boat launch they rent. |

I have a camper that I leave at Bridgeside every summer from May to Sept. They do have 50 amp hook-ups. I have been there for many years and Dody & Buggy (they own Bridgeside) are very, very nice people. They have everything a fisherman would want. Also that is where all the action is every weekend. (Bands, Dances, good food & fellowship) The only problem is that they stay fairly well booked up all summer. Good Luck!!!!

I am trying to get a spot for June 15 through July 15 or even the end of July if I had to. Island House, Jim's, the state park and bridgeside are booked. I would consider staying at Port fouchon or other areas if I had to but my family really wants to be on the beach. Amy help would be appreciated.
I need a 50 amp hook up for a 36 foot 5th wheel. |
