Yep.. In donaldsonville. My BIL works there but he was already off for the day. Another guy I know was working a turnaround in that unit but is ok.

These 2 plants are probably less than 10 miles as the crow flies.

Fertilizer plant......one dead.....a name is out there, but I will not repeat it before I see it confirmed.

Something to do with a Nitrogen truck?? But as I understand it, nitrogen is not explosive.

I was told a nitrogen header blew. We won't know until the official word comes out.

All these explosions are making me nervous.. I'll be doing some inspection in the Valero plant for the next 2 months...

NDE inspection, I mostly do thickness testing, for TEAM Industrial. Most of our work is in paper mills but we cover a almost all industries..

I read in yesterdays paper that this was an ethelyne unit like sasol and westlake has probably.... ethelyne is highly flamable. Ethelyne leak + ingnition source = big boom

It was a nitrogen header that got overpressured. Header was fed from a transport truck. One employee is the husband of a friend. He is still in ICU and, some serious surgeries will have to be done to put his leg back together.
