Default Inspection of boat trailer

Apparently LDWF has been writing tickets for not having an "inspection" sticker on boat trailers...guess I've been a law breaker for many years as I have never had my trailer inspected or my fathers trailers growing up...

A sticker for the registration on your license plate is required...can anyone shed some light?

This may save some from a nice fine if this is the case...

I always get a permanent tag for license plate but never get an inspection sticker.

A friend of mines owns a gas station and said he has seen an influx of trailer owners getting inspection stickers for their trailers. He said even the cowboys are getting ticketed for horse trailers..... Must be the new craze!!!

Jindal is making the State Police enforce this for another revenue stream. You can either get an inspection sticker or you can pay the fine, anyway you going to eventually have to pay up.

I was told that they issued 120 tickets at one of the popular landings about 1 month ago. I had mine inspected for the first time last week. Just make sure your lights are working and you have your registration. Get it done where you have your auto inspected. $20 for 2 years.

A boat trailer needs to have a bow tie down going straight to the trailer, working brake, signal and running lights, working license plate light, a licenses plate on the Drivers side, boats must be tied down with either a single strap across the back or 2 straps to the trailer to the tow eyes on the back. That's what I was told by an inspection station owner. Also has to have tires in good condition.

I know it's a PITA but maybe this won't be a bad thing? Some of the trailers I've seen on the road don't look to safe. Guess I'll be getting my trailers inspected.

Funny thing but I built a trailer 1 1/2 years ago. To get tags it has to be inspected and approved by state police. They said nothing about an inspection sticker. Maybe this is something new or maybe this is similar to to the wade fishing license thread???

So just to clear the air here...the places which perform inspections for vehicles can inspect your trialers?

This isn't new but it hasn't been enforced in the past. I guess money is tight and its a way for the govnt to get more of ours.

State's trying to validate there purpose. It's been our state law that anything driven or towed shall be registered with La.DVM and bear a valid La. inspection sticker . I'm glad that they finally got a 2 year inspection sticker.

I just found this out also. Any trailer in the State has to be registered and inspected just like your vehicles..
