Default Calcasieu Point

Has anyone heard any news about Calcasieu Point closing? I heard from a good source the there are plans on shutting down the launch and store completely within the next 2 years and that it's trying to be kept quiet for now. Also, the channel to LNG would be closed off to all traffic. This supposedly has to do with the new industry that's coming in around there. If anyone knows a Police Juror or someone who might know more, please ask to see if this is true or not and leave a follow up post. Thanks

I can assure you that Cal Pernt will not be closing nor will the channel to 4 corners be closed. It will take out some great fishing area but not all of it.

Just got off the phone with Police Juror Hal McMillin. He spoke with the Port Executive Director Bill Rase. There are no plans to close Cal Point.

Hope y'all are right but ask Mrs Elaine next time you are there.
I love Hal McMillian but some politicians have a way of saying what they know you want to hear and but something else actually gets done maybe by their replacements. Blame it on Bush. Maybe they meant that Calcasieu Point would not be closed but only relocated. Don't get your bowels in an uproar but wait and see and pray. Maybe they will find a way to keep it open but we might have the TSA folks there doing x-rays and touchy feelie searches to all the fishermen. HaHa!

I heard that Calcasieu Point would be relocated further south to accommodate the Coast Guard Barrier requirements for the new Magnolia LNG facility.

I won't speak on the validity of that statement... just what I've heard from being around the Construction industry in this area.

I have known Hal for a long time and believe him. He I s still checking on it though.

One thing to remember is that the PJ owns Cal Point and it would take then to close it. Built with public funds. Not saying it can't happen but it would be a wouldn't happen overnight
