Default What's the longest

you have had a battery last? Just replaced the battery in my secondhand 2001 rancher. I purchased from a buddy in 2008 and have used it daily to carry training equipment only. Saturday morning I pulled the original Honda battery so I am almost positive it was original since nobody I know would pay for a Honda replacement. Twelve years on a battery has to be a fluke or world record or both.

Daily use means no real chance for sulfation to occur... 12 years is doable.

If you use a desuplhator and keep a battery on trickle, and perhaps change the fluid in it once theres no reason that you couldn't even get more out of one.

Bought my truck (2004 model) with the original battery still in it. Just had to change it two months ago.. Figure 9 years on a car battery was a pretty good while.

Thats a long time on a vehicle battery. After 4 or 5 years you're usually on borrowed time.

Raymond, we have a 2003 Honda Rancher that I purchased new in the fall of 2002. Arrived at our camp this past Friday to find my youngest left the key switch on for 2 two weeks. Dead as a door nail!!! Jumped it off and electric shift would not work due to not enough amps to engage shifter. I thought this battery was toast and ready to throw it away.

Put the bike on a charger for 6 hours and it was as good as new. Not sure how it will work when the cold weather gets here, but I am surprised it took a charge.

Honestly they are really the same price as say Auto Zone or Wal Mart or even a little cheaper. I actually thought the same thing so I got one for my Rubicon the other day from Oreilly's for like $89 and they charged me $10 core, and I had to add the acid and charge it first. Went to Honda shop to get an air filter and a few other things. Asked how much a battery was and he said $85 and the battery was charged with acid in it, ready to roll. Just had to drop it in. And he "claimed" that you are much better off running the Honda batteries b/c most don't have as many amps as them to control elec shift and all that. So I bought that one and returned other to Oreilly.
