Default Opening weekend in JB

Saturday got to the blind right at shooting time. Blind was full of water. Bailed out the blind and missed the first 20 minutes with birds trying to light in decoys.

Finally got settled in and loaded. We didn't do much shooting for the first hour as we were trying to get birds in close enough for our 11 year old to bust'em with his 410.

He knocked down a couple and the flight slowed and we figured we better start shooting. Finished the day with 15 for 4 of us. Bryson killed his limit with the 410. Several ruddy ducks in the mix.

Sunday we got to the blind on time with 3 adults. 3 birds came in, I knocked down 2 on 2 shots and thought, Oh Yeah. Gonna be a quick hunt. HA. Shooting went down hill from there. We did finish with a limit about 8. Should have been through earlier.

Love being in the marsh and seeing the sun come up.

Never seen that many ruddy ducks before. Had a very mixed bag of Blue wing, grays, ruddys, redhead, mottled, weidgon, spoonies.

Nice pond and nice hunt! Our opener in JB only produced ONE duck. The ducks that were in our area were a MILE high and not looking to slow down. Acted like they had been shot at for weeks. Not sure what happened to all the ducks that were there for youth hunt wknd.

Casey is correct.

Had some try and get the lease out from under my friend. He owns adjoining property to the pond.

Guess what some don't realize that the only way to get in the pond is through his property. LOL
