I want any opinions about this boat i may be getting. So any of u have a roll gunnel and if so how does it handle chop. I know this boat is lighter than a capped boat but I just had a capped boat slip though my hands. This is a 2010 Mako with a 225 optimax. Share any opinons or knowledge about boat or motor.

Ive never owned a mako boat and ive always loved the look of them. I was told that they are a rough wet ride. but man i went with a buddy in his and it was an 18ft with 90 opti. Have to say i loved it. The water got rough on us and it rode smooth and we stayed dry. Made me want one even more.

This boat is almost 22 ft. I rode in the same size boat with a buddy many times but his is the capped boat and heavier but with same v... it is a great ride and we have been in rough stuff. This boat is lighter and im not sure how it will take waves

Yeah the one i rode in had the walk around gunnels... I bet that one will be pretty quick being light with that 225

Mako uses the old kenner hull design since tracker bought them both out in 2005 and discontinued the kenner line a few years back. It was a great riding hull. I have heard sketchy things about the quality of the components Tracker uses in their boats, but no first hand experience. Do a search on the thehulltruth.com lots of good boat info there

i had a mako 18fr with 90hp on it. i liked it. but ive never ridden in any boat when the water was rough and didnt get wet. so this one is alot nicer than the one i had so im sure u will be fine

I would rather big 4 stroke but $$ goes way up for those. Ive got what I think is a good price on this one but hesitant about roll gunnel..What about fuel consumption on this optimax?

Sold my 29' SeaVee last summer and bought a bay boat. The SeaVee had twin 225 Opti's with 850+ hrs each. I ran the dog snot out of them about 25% of the time and fast cruise the remainder (35kts+ if less than 4ft seas). The only trouble we had was caused by a water leak in a coolant line that corroded an electrical connection but was caught before major calamity (happened year 7/10 IIRC) and a funny quirk in the throttle control that would not sense neutral on occasion. I would not hesitate to buy a boat with one on the back.

I have run a vision with the same 225 and seen 58 mph wot, the only thing I would add to this boat is trim tabs and that's only a $600 option.
What kind of $$ is seller asking? $16,000-$18,000 depending on hrs should be acceptable,IMO. Just noticed the trailer, it's powder coated and will be done in 2 yrs, knock off some $$ for replacement. McClain aluminum is $3,400.

Oh, in addition, fuel consumption was surprisingly good. I think we got about 1.2-1.4 mpg at a 38 mph easy cruise at 3900-4000 rpm (my pop at the helm....I liked to run it at 4500 rpm for about 42mph but fuel consumption was up to about 1.1mpg). This boat had a 25 deg. deadrise at the stern so it took some hp to keep it up on the step. The fuel burn on the Mercs was better than I expected.

That being said....My current boat (24' Blue Wave PB) has a 250 Yammy 4stroke. I like not having to keep a 2stroke oil reservoir topped off and I like the low end torque for getting out the hole but, when shopping for it, if the hull I liked had the Optimax I would have been just fine with it.

Take it on a test ride, before you buy. Check all livewells, trolling motor, all other electronics and switches. Make sure you check out the trailer too. Inspect axles, lights, and brakes if it has them. It easy to do this when the boat is off the trailer. Also get the motor report run at a shop to make sure it hasn't been abused.

The rolled gunnel has very little (if anything) to do with the performance of the boat. That is pretty much cosmetics. Might lighten the load a little, but, that's it.

A lot of big lake guides used the big kenner boats back in the day. They ride great. It's the same hull.

He said it will do just over 50 which i thought it should do more. Selling for 17500 with 75lb motor guide and gps/depthinder. My buddy said this boat was 35000 new...is that accurate?

Take that 4 blade off and prop it right and you'll see a good bit more too end.

My opti 225 has gotten me 53-54 on a triton 240 lts (2,500lb hull), and I have decent whole shot

You need to ride in more boats!!! My boat you never get wet in and it thats in 35 mph plus winds

Only time you ever would get wet is if you side sea waves in 35mph winds and take spay from winds off waves, but im not a dummy to side sea in that kind of wind

when i punched this boat in NADA it came up with 18,000 with just boat and motor and 24,000 with the trailer gps and trolling motor...these two were the low retail...this seems a bit high. anyone know of good site to go to inorder to get legit value?

I have the 225 opti max on the back of my 20ft champion bass boat and I love it! I get around 5 or 6 mpg depending on how hard I run it. Awesome motor!
