51-year-old Sulphur man arrested for deer hunting violations

Clark accused of several deer-related charges, including hunting from a public road and contributing to the delinquency of minors

Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested a Sulphur man on Jan. 29 for alleged deer hunting violations.

Chris G. Clark, 51, was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center for hunting from a moving vehicle, hunting deer from a public road, hunting or taking deer during a closed season, discharging a firearm from a public road and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors.
According to a press release, agents also cited two minors for hunting from a moving vehicle, hunting deer from a public road, hunting deer during a closed season and discharging a firearm from a public road.
The release states LDWF agents received a complaint regarding a deer shot off of Ellis Moss Road in Sulphur. Agents at the scene received a license plate number and detailed description of the vehicle used in the shooting of the deer.
The license plate information led agents to a residence in Sulphur, and the investigation revealed Clark drove the vehicle along with three minors to the location where there were deer along the road, the release states.
According to the release, Clark equipped one minor with a .243 rifle and one with a .30-06, and instructed them to shoot simultaneously. Both minors fired multiple shots and killed the deer, but an approaching vehicle caused them to flee the scene, the release states.
In the investigation, agents seized the .243 and .30-06, as well as a 12-gauge shotgun.
Contributing to the delinquency of a minor carries up to a $500 fine and up to six months in jail for each offense. Hunting or taking deer during a closed season brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. Hunting from a moving vehicle brings a $250 to $500 and up to 90 days in jail. Hunting deer from a public road carries a $100 to $350 and up to 60 days in jail, and discharging a firearm from a public road carries a $50 fine and up to 30 days in jail.
