FlagUS Dularge Heating Up!

Dularge Trout Slam!

High winds continue to be a problem as ole man winter just won't let go. Its been a rollercoaster ride with winds from every direction the past few weeks. The good news is that our area has moved into the springtime pattern in regards to trout fishing. The trout are slowly migrating back to the lakes leaving their winter holes behind. Small shrimp the size of grass shrimp are showing up but the trout are mostly feeding on mullet. Yesterday the winds were up to 15-20 mph but Capt Rodney Bourque and I were determined to make the best of it. Capt Rodney started it off by catching a big 10 lb redfish on the popular VuDu shrimp
which was released. We had no problem catching our 50 trout limit(by 10:30 am) but covered plenty of water in doing so. The fish were very scattered over the reefs with only 1 location giving up more than 15 fish. Fishing protected shorelines produced big time for us yesterday with nice 16-18 inch trout. We caught the fish on a variety of soft plastics with bunker colored swim baits producing the majority of the fish. We found very little evidence of baitfish at any location we fished. The fish are where they're supposed to be this time of the year and they are looking for a food source. Sister Lake and Lake Mechant has good clear water on protected shorelines but dirty everywhere else. One thing for sure is that its fixing to bust loose and we are waiting patiently!! Good luck fishing.
