Biggest fish ive ever caught! Out at the pass on light tackle. Took about an hour to land. Lots of fun!

Good job and great times. After a few hour long fights with those bruisers on light tackle, we eventually moved up to bigger gear to bring them in more quickly. At the beach, we like 40 lb power pro for a balance between casting distance and strength. At the jetties, casting distance is less important. We go with 50 lb power pro on spinning rods so we can horse the fish away from the rocks when needed, and 80 lb power pro on level wind reels so we can really crank down and turn the fish. The absolute two best spots are just outside the cuts and just off the ends (btw the ends and the buoys). A lot of times you need to turn 'em quick because line + rocks = game over.

We didnt expect too much but it ended up being a really fun day. Just gald to be back fishin! And it was fun to have something to post other than questions about where to find fish
