Today may have been the best day on the water yet this year. Beautiful weather, little to no wind, very few gnats, and tons of speckled trout. I ran part of a 20 man trip from Cajun Industries out of the Reel Inn today. We started at daybreak on top of oyster reefs dotting the shorelines of Lake mechant. Action was steady and the crew on my boat was getting into them pretty good when the switch shut off. We waited out the tide and made a short move awhile later and found the water boiling with fish chasing minnows out of the water. The sound those trout make when they slurp bait at the surface never gets old. It's a rare occasion and one I'll never forget. The action continued hot and heavy and everyone in the boat was hooking up every cast. When the smoke cleared we had 75 trout cooling in the new Kysek Extreme Cold. Great day for everyone as everyone in the group caught lots of fish! Big thanks to Capt. T. Miller for the trip! Reflexion Ghost Bammers did most of the damage on quarter oz. goldeneye jigheads.
