Well.....you only need them when you need them. But you never know when you will need them!

Let me ask this:: If I am in outside waters and I DO NOT have flares on board but DO have a CG certified flag, and its during daylight hours, am I in violation?

Yes, you can pick them up at Academy. Not very expensive.
