I?ve launched mine many times. 21 foot. No problems. However, for about the last 3 years people have reported criminal activity with vehicles. I?ve never experienced this myself.

I work for cpso, and have done numerous reports for vehicle burglaries at that boat launch. If I fish the sabine, I drive the few extra miles and cross in to orange and launch there. The launch is much nicer.

I?ve done that too. It?s an absolutely great boat launch that Louisiana will never have. You don?t need a Texas fishing license, however the rules for Texas apply.

From the Louisiana Fishing Regulation book.
The waters in western Louisiana form a mutual border with Texas, so Louisiana and Texas have a reciprocal agreement that allows Louisiana and Texas recreational fishermen to fish border waters (except the Gulf of Mexico) under their resident license from their home state. They are not required to purchase a nonresident license. Those exempted from resident licenses for their state (see above) are also included in this agreement. Border waters include: Caddo Lake Toledo Bend Reservoir Sabine River Sabine Lake Sabine Pass. Louisiana residents age 65 or older are not required to purchase a Texas nonresident license to fish in any Texas public waters (both freshwater and saltwater), but they must have a valid Louisiana resident senior fishing license(s) and comply with Texas law. Louisiana residents from 17 to 64 years of age are still required to purchase a Texas nonresident fishing license when fishing in Texas waters, except border waters. Likewise, Texas residents age 65 or older may fish in any Louisiana public waters (both freshwater and saltwater) as long as they possess any type of valid Special Texas Resident license for seniors and comply with Louisiana law. This includes Texas residents born before September 1, 1930. |

You need to be careful about fishing past the mouth of any drain or bayou on the Texas side of the Sabine river unless you have a Texas license or you are exempt as outlined above. You personally don't have to go across the mouth of the drain or bayou and you can't cast across a line between the two banks of the drain or bayou without being in violation. I had two friends that got a warning ticket about that.
