Default 40 merc Jack plate

I currently have a 25 Suzuki on a Jack plate on my boat. I am looking to repower with a 40 merc. Can I use my old Jack plate or will I need a new one? If I need a new one is it due to the strength or the width of the mount? If it's the width I can probably modify mine.

second that. if the holes dont line up then its to small. i want to say the mount plate on 25 down is smaller than 40 and up.

Hey D, if Natural light Kid doesn't get the jack from you I might be interested. I have a 40 Yama I could use it on if it will fit/work with it.
