Default need help / advice

found a great deal on a demo boat BUT it has a 225 handa 4stroke with 700 hours on it!. if i buy this boat the warranty on the hull/motor will start the day i purchase (5 yr on the motor) lifetime on hull. ive heard crab fisherman putting 2500 hrs on these hondas. if figure if it under warranty screw it but if i go to resell it and i put another 300+ hrs on it then it wont be worth **** in resale. lemme know what you think

Do what they tell you about a refinance on a house, if you are going to keep it longer than 5 yrs, I would jump on it. Also, is the warrenty transferable, if it is, get it in writing or have them circle the fine print.
Guess this is the B/J in NO they have had forsale?

I had a 225 Honda and loved it. It's no rocket but it's very dependable. In 2 years of fishing 20 days a month I never had one problem.

Agree with Raymond. If you plan on keeping the boat, then the motor and warranty should be no problem

I say go for it. a boat is a money pit, count on losing money when you resale. but you are getting a good motor for a good deal. look at uscg thats what they run on their boats. If you dont plan to keep it long then may not wanna go that route but if you gonna use it and get enjoyment out of it then pick it up.

Dont miss out on a deal cuz the resale 5 years from now isnt gonna be worth nuthing. if you get 5 years out of er, then to me you got your moneys worth and can afford to lose a lil on the motor

the only thing that makes me worry is 700 hrs in 2-3 years thats alot!!! it must not be a regular demo/ show boat it was prolly a guide boat that was ragged on pretty damn hard i think i will hire an "outside" fiberglass man to go look at the boat and go over everything to make sure there aint no fishy repairs

My neighbor puts that amount of hours on in less than 5 months crabbing and crabs 9 months out of the year.

He usually runs them 3 years, before he replaces them. His problems usually are just replacing repairing lower units because heruns in 2ft or less most of the time and encounters shell reefs and logs all the time.

He say if they are giving you 5 years warranty go for it.

Thats really not a crazy amount. thats just actually using your rig fairly regularly. I had a gator trax w/ a crud buddy motor and when I sold it at 4 months I had close to 80hrs on it and I used it maybe one day every 2weeks or so. it would vary but I didnt use it ALL the time by no means and in 4 months I had between 70 and 80hrs, closer to 80
