Default Wild Boar in Moss Bluff

Can't post pictures but here is an email from a friend in Moss Bluff.

Check out the boar that was just caught in the woods adjacent to our house in Moss Bluff.
Nasty little critter; he kept trying to charge me when I got close to the cage. The first photo was taken from my car window.
One of my Cajun neighbors is a pig hunter and he will make several meals out of him. He hadn't been by yet to check his trap early this morning.
They have been tearing up our yard the last several weeks looking for grubs and the like. They tear up all the sod and leave you a trench about a foot deep. One of the neighbors dogs came us missing and may have been a victim of the boars (there are at least two large ones like this; we saw 7 or 8 babies when a lot was cleared about a year and a half ago so probably from the same bunch.

man i watched a special on discovery channel last night about wild pigs. they said from 1990-present that they the population climbed by like 200%. they said one pig is sexually mature at 5 months old. can have babies 3 times in a 14 month period and on average 6 piglets to a litter. Crazy!

I saw that special too. It was a real "eye opener". They say we would need to kill 80% of every one born to control the population and we all know that AIN'T gonna happen. La. needs to be like Texas. Kill them suckers 24/7 and 365 days out of the year. They are gonna decimate they deer population as we know it now....

I do believe that there is no season on wild pigs, you can shoot them every day of the year within legal shooting hours.

Be careful for what you wish for. There is a story out of Texas today about two hunters killed when their helicopter crashed while hog hunting.

I didn't go to the Nueces website , but that looked like some kind of garage built chopper. At the end of the video , they landed the helicopter on a 20' utility trailer to take it home....

we have plenty of them in MB. Always dead on side of road at westlake bridge.

Me and my bud would hunt them at his house on indian bayou. Killed 2 one evening..walked up on a heard, each capped one. Then had to haul them out a mile or so through brush..and we was 11

Default R22 Helicopter

The helicopter in the Nueces video is a Robinson R22. It weighs 885 pounds and suggested retail before options is $250,000.

Glenn......what part of MB does your friend in?

10 years ago, I heard that one of the hunting clubs towards the east end of John Koonce road turned some hogs loose so they would have them to hunt. There Deer hunting was not to good, and they wanted hogs to hunt.

I have not ever heard of anyone seeing any over on the east side of MB. My neighbor told me that he heard some Yotes not very far from our house last week.

I think they did the chopper thing over Anahuac, the pigs were thick after the hurricane from what i heard. See one every once in a while when Im duck hunting also. Its funny seeing the Barneys trying to kill one with a shotgun about 100yds out.

We killed a big sow on a duck hunt this year with 3" 3s. But it was only about a 10 yard shot. Talk about fill up a pirogue. She went bout 200.
