Default Barrier Islands Cleanup

A few friends and I have been discussing the possibility of organizing a "trash pick up" event at the barrier islands off the Mississippi Gulf coast. We spend alot of time on the beaches of these islands, and it disgusts me to see so much trash and debris cluttering it up, and its time to start doing something about it. I know they've been doing something similar for several years in Vermillion Bay? or some river in Southern La? Does anyone here have any contact information for anyone involved in organizing an event like this?

The logistics of something like this is going to huge and we are just trying to figure out when to hold it, and ideas as to how to get people interested in participating etc....any input or suggestions are definitely welcome Thanks

They have a big Trash Bash out of Dularge every year. You may be able to find info on Dularge.com. Capt. Bill Lake has posted a couple times here recently and could probably get you in touch with the organizers also.
