i am not sure if this has been discussed already so i will ask, i have heard that pods make all the world of difference on a shallow water boat(tunnels and stuff) but would it be a good(helpful) thing to do on a regular fishing boat, i have a 16 foot express with a 40 yamaha, how much difference or effect if any would pods have if installed on my rig, would it be worth the money?????

unless you offset the motor it will not have much effect on shallow water preformance.

Motor would need to be set back off transom 6" or more to have any appreciable affect. Cost/benefit doesn't make sense finacially. It's hard to make a tunnel out of of a regular boat.

Prolly won't be much help on a regular boat.
They help keep the boat level on take off. They are like extra floatation and trim tabs. |

to my understanding most people who add pods have boats that sit low in the back, as for shallow water the pods help keep your boat from "squatting" on take off so you can plane in shallower water. I dont see them being worth the money unless you get a good deal.theyre also supposed to make it a bit more stable from what i hear.

i did it on a 16' carolina skiff and i think it was a waste of time and money. may have improved the ride some, but i lost top speed and didn't notice any shallow running difference. i was running a 50 yammy.
