Rod Lengths and Actions
I am in need of some SaltyCajun advice. I've mostly fished freshwater for many years, but in the last three or four years I have begun to venture more regularly into the salt...I am wanting to get some tackle (rods and reels) that are more specifically suited to inshore fishing. I was wondering what rod lengths and actions do y'all use mostly? I was thinking from what I have seen it's usually medium to medium-light...is that right? I have fished Big Lake numerous times and also Grand Isle and Hopedale...just so you kind of have an idea of the type of fishing that I do.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated....LL

7' ers med-med light fast action is my preference as well as alot on here. More will chime in soon. Welcome to salty cajun.

I use a 6'6" med fast tip for topwaters and a 7' med or med light for everything ele. One of my favorite trout rods I have is a St Croix crankbait rod. It is a 7' medium I think but has a pretty fast tip and alot of backbone

We at Duce Rods can set you up with rods and reels. We have 6'8" and 7' in med light, medium, and med heavy. Our med light has a total weight of 3.5oz. We also carry lews reels. My experience with lews has been great! I am currently testing how long they will last with out rinsing or oiling them. So far 8 months and they are still like they are out of the box. I just got a new rod reel setup and it's a good balance for specks and reds...curado on 6'6" st. croix - Med/Fast...i prefer 6'6" over 7', personally, but i kayak fish and it's easier to handle in small boat
 (breaking in the new rod)

Thanks everybody...I appreciate the input. I have looked at the Falcon Coastal series but wasn't completely sold. I would like to look at the Duce Rods to.
On another subject, how does everyone feel about Haynie Boats? Just kidding...I've have been a member long enough to not wanna get into that again!!
