Share tips on making and painting lure etcs.
Salty when painting, would spray paint work just as fine??? Anyone (other than salty) paint or make their own baits? |

HF ,
Spray paint is very hard to controll when painting a small surface like a fishing lure. Air brush works alot better as you can fade colors w/ airbrush or use a small artist brush. Use toothpicks to do small details like eyes ,gills, dots, etc. |

Just sprayed the last coat of "bone"
So tooth picks work fine for like detailing (eyes, gills, etc.) |

Yes they do....Just remember to practice on something else before you start with the lure...also you may want to take a pencil and draw what you want on the lure then paint it on...

I use to carve my own baits, and paint them with paint brush. Here is a popper below that i carved/painted, just never took the dremel and made the popper part. Never thought of using a tooth pic though. Thanks Bluechip. What yall think of a bone color she dawg with red gills, and red belly, kinda like this spook

Just tried the tooth pic on another bait, worked great for the gills!
One question before i do it on the she dog... If its a bone color, red gills, red belly, what color eyes?

Just be creative and pick a color....If you can talk your mom into going to Hobby Lobby or another craft store you can find those "stick-on" eyes that have that glitter look to them like the other baits..
If you use these just use a little glue when you put them on and they will not come off... |

It looks flat, just b/c of the way i took the picture, but here it is with the color not bad for a first attempt, i dont think...
The pic. actually really sucks. but it shows the color |

fool,
to do eyes get a 1/4 " dowel and a 1/2 " dowel . Use the flat end of the dowel dipped in paint to put the eye on the bait. let it dry then you use the smaller dowel to put the center dot in the eye. Or use the smaller dowel and a toothpick. |
