I tie my own but don't use a swivel.....take some 40lb berkley big game, about a 3 foot piece. The reason I use the heavy mono is it is stiff, too limp of a line they will stay tangled. Tie a 1/4 oz jighead to each end. Then make a overhand loop knot,3 twists so it does not come apart. I just eyeball the distance between the two baits, don't want them too close or you will not have a good chance of catching a double. I can show you how to do it one day,it's not hard. They work well when the trout are hitting under the birds.

Donkey rig will not catch many doubles on trout. Neither will an Alabama or Umbrella rig. Trout require space between baits. Bass apparently do not.

Way too complicated and time consuming for me!!!! With all the kids, I take a section of stiff mono to keep it from tangling and tie jig heads to each end. Then I tie an overhand knot for a loop to tie my main line to it.

You need at least 18 inches of space between baits (when they're lined up head to tail being retrieved in the water) to catch two trout. Trout need much more space than bass. |

I have always used the speck rigs out the package but I might try making one and see if it is as good.

I rig mine the same way, catches plenty of doubles and its easy to separate the fish to help prevent a hook in your hand from the other jig
