fish finders
Maybe asking this way someone will respond. Looking to see what model fish finders and transducers you all use for your off shore adventures? I plan to fish the near rigs and some 50 to 60 miles out in deep water. Thanks

I use a Garmin gpsmap 1020xs. Not an extremely high end unit but it functions for what I need. I believe it is good for about 2000 ft of water with chirp sonar and it can be used with my radar so it works for me. Has a 10" screen which is great for my old eyes.

SIMRAD is the way to go if you have the money. I have one and literally can drop a bait in front of the fish so clear and will keep up with my boat running wide open so I can watch for structure.

I run a Simrad with a Airmar B175 transducer. It is a 1KW transducer and much more than I need. I have no problem marking bottom, identifying bait, and fish in 1,000' of water. IMO the transducer you run makes a bigger difference than the head unit you choose. I chose Simrad because I already knew how to use it. If you are fishing deeper water I would recommend at least a 1KW transducer. If you want to go crazy look at something like the Airmar R599

Thanks for the replies and not sure I would fish any water in the gulf over 1000' but finding structure away from and not near rigs and bait. I will check out Airmar and see what they have for the head unit I decide on!

For the depths you will encounter a Airmar TM150 transducer will do well. Its one of the 3 transducers I run. I use Lowrance HDS gen 3 units.
