11.6 that is a nice fish for the river. Keep landing big fish like this and will soon be on the bass masters tour stop.

that's the way it works Fool. When it's your time, it's your time! One of the biggest bass I ever caught came on a perch bait when I was a kid - my buddy took the bass rod and gave me the perch rod, and he wasn't too happy a little while later.
when we were fishing sunday I watched a woman catch a 26.5inch trout, then she sat down and drank a beer and smoked a cig. very next cast she caught a 24… gotta wait for your number. With the time you spend on the water you'll break that before you know it. |

Must have been a laccasine bass that was released in the river?

Yes...you could not release the fish back in the impoundment after the dog fights, so people around the river would release them in the Calcasieu.

the fish was reported to us at the tackle box last sunday. the anglers then took the fish to cajun fast mart to have it weighed on certified scales. a biologist was called to take blood and scale samples to pinpoint the fish's origin. the ol boy who caught it was perch fishing, as mentioned. they saw the huge fish in shallow water, dropped a small jig in front of it and she bit. the fight was mere seconds, as they had the net ready from the get-go. the ol boy who caught her was so excited that he didn't think about not being able to afford to have the fish mounted and he didn't want to fillet her, so long story short, the fish was donated to the tackle box in sulphur and it has been transported to lake charles for mounting. the fish will be displayed at the tackle box in sulphur along with a plaque recognizing the angler's donation and achievment.

Excellent!!! Let us know when it's finished so we can drop by The Tackle Box, take a look and spend some money.

That in all honesty makes me sick in my stomach though.
Atleast he donated it..but I mean cmon! If your know you cant mount it, it should have been released back. My opinion. |
