Pediatric Allergies

Looking for some help. I have a 8 yr old girl that has had bad allergies since she was born. We did shots with one doc for 3 years. Once that round was over, we tested her again and she was worse off then when we started. My wife and I decided last year to stop giving her all that medicine and let her body fight it off. She was good for the summer, but she is still fighting with respiratory issues. We had her tested again today in Lafayette and poor thing her back is all broke out and the doc wants to start her on shots again. What I'm looking for is has anyone had a kid that was bad off and what did you do to help them out? I'm willing to travel and meet other docs out of state if needed and price isn't an issue. I just don't know where to start and I'm tired of seeing her suffer. She also has asthma.

Short answer is Texas Children's in Houston, my wife is there right now with our 4yr old dealing with endocrin/growth issues.
It's difficult to get it; but the attention your receive and level of knowledge is amazing.

If you do get in; be prepared to make a few trips before they "fix" the problem, or start a new treatment. They are very thorough and so it's time consuming.

Both of our daughters have multiple allergies, asthma, and exzema. We started giving them LIMU about 2 years ago and they are free from breathing treatments, exzema rash, and asthma.

I am not trying to sell you LIMU just telling what worked for our kids. We give them 1.5 oz every night.

have you tried changing their diets? Some people are allergic to certain chemicals they use in processed foods.

I would get that baby to see a Doctor of Internal Medicine initially for a recommendation to a specialist, Dr. Gerry Hebert in Lake Charles is a top notch Dr. Of Internal Medicine

This might sound too easy and I'm sure it doesn't work, but I have heard of giving kids a tablespoon of locally made honey every day to cure them of their pollen allergies. It has to be local though and it does take awhile to see results.

YES!! It worked for me as a child and it worked for my daughter. Many places that sell "Home Brew" Beer/Wind supplies also sell local honey. If you choose not to go that route then as others have suggested go to Houston...best medical care in the world!

Have y'all tried the nebulizer breathing treatments at home? They help when our boys have respiratory issues.

I had childhood asthma; and remember cold weather+vigorous activity irritated my lungs and asthma.

Pat, I actually have 3 bee hives in my back yard that belong to my FIL. We have given her honey straight from the back yard with no luck.

B stealth, we do give her breathing treatments at home. They work, but only for the short term. Something else is wrong.

I agree something else is wrong, the Nebulizer only helps with symptoms not a cure. Good Luck to Y'all hope she starts feeling better soon.

Gf, she's only23 is getting shots every Friday and for the most part its helping, (she don't snore no more) and only takes a pill a pill every wince in awhile now, of the. 30 things they test you for she's got 28 of them, .. pills didn't help much, but after3 months of shots she's way better still got 6-10 months to go. I would go to Texas childrens hospital and make sure nothing else is wrong and get the right doses for hergetting better now. Its

Our youngest boy had baby excima (sp?) which has since cleared up on its own but my wife brought him to a pediatric allergist in Lafayette that was highly recommended. The name of the place was Prather Pediatric Asthma. Maybe they can help your little girl, if they can't they can probably give you a referral to some of the Houston specialists.

My son also went to Dr. Prather. He had allergies which triggered chronic ear infections and respiratory infections. 3 sets of tubes in his ears. He had the shots for a few years. Our ENT Dr. Noel, also in Lafayette, who did his tubes, finally removed his adenoid's the last time and I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but he started making a turn for the better.

He is now 11, but it seemed like forever then, but he only gets sick maybe once a year now. He still hasn't shaken the peanut allergy yet, retested and broke out big time again.
