Default Can you identify this duck for me?

Can someone tell me what duck this is? I thought it was a canvasback hen, but not sure. It also looks like a redhead. I've shot a few of these in Texas, but I am not good at identifying ducks (other than teal, greys, pintails, etc.).

I would say drake scaup In an eclipse plumage.

Red head hens are a lot lighter brown. Just too dark of a brown I think it's a hybrid I could be wrong though.

It is a Redhead Eclipse Drake . In full plumage it would have a darker breast and much more red on its head .

Thanks. I thought it was a redhead, but wasn't sure. Someone said it might have been a canvasback, but I didn't think the neck was thick enough.

I agree although I do not claim to be a duckologist.
We have killed a few like that this year and that is what I was calling them.

Yes they are always . You can somewhat see it in one of the pics . I think its just hard to tell in the pics ,prob due to the camera or poor lighting or maybe even because its been dead awhile .
