Default New guy tips please!!

Hello guys, I just found this site yesterday but I have been reading the sportsman for a few years. I mostly fish the fresh waters around my house and Toledo as much as I can. The only area that ive fished saltwater is the Rockefeller, with out much luck or know how. The wife and I go crabbing there and Ive got that covered just looking for some tips on baits and cast neting tips also. Ive got a good idea of what canal that I want to fish just dont know what baits, live or artificial, to use and how to use them. Im not looking for anyones secrets or honey holes, justed steered in the right direction, but ill take any info that I can get to help out my odds. I have caught reds there before, by luck only I believe, but I would like to try to fish for specs. Thanks to anyone who could give a few tips, and this looks to be a lil better than the other site to learn!!!

welcome to the site.... rockafeller can be tough for trout sometimes especially using artificial... look for cleaner water that is moving around points and try to match what you are throwing to what ever bait you see in the water

fished the "roc" a couple of times...bertrand canal is popular...I saw folks cacthing on live shrimp...soaking bait shrimp will get you drums and reds among other species.

Kinda have to be able to put up with the crowd...most anchor with the old popping cork.

6ft on da casnet
we need to start a mentor program for Newbies. I think it would be great to show the correct way to fish and handle a boat on the "Lake"

In the Roc the cast net size limit is 8'. Unless it was changed recently.

I don't think 8' foot is legal [Roc = Rockefeller] Their # is 337 538-2276

Behind Grand bayou @ Big Lake......5' is max size cast net.

None taken, fishing reefs, birds, ect can be much different than freshwater.
Don't worry about duckhunters anymore, quit public hunting but I have been there also.

Contact W on Cross Reef....

Poppin corks, dont go get the humogus (sp) red and white ones the Mikedatiger uses. Get the smaller ones, anything small with a 1/8th oz lead head underneath about 14-18in.

NO livies here with me...
